Reduce

As a Kia driver you yourself can also drive more efficiently and economically. This will be good for the environment and your wallet. Below we provide a few tips.

  • Change gears to a higher gear as quickly as possible, between 2000 and 2500 revolutions.
  • Allow the vehicle to slowly roll under its own steam without applying the brake when you need to reduce your speed or have to stop for a traffic light or similar.
  • Already use the 5th gear when driving at 80 kilometres per hour.
  • Check the tyre pressure on a monthly basis.
  • Look to the front as much as possible and anticipate on what the rest of the traffic is doing.
  • Switch off the engine when stopping for a short while. Should you again switch on the engine, do it without accelerating.
  • Use, if possible, a revolution counter, cruise control and an on-board computer.
  • Moderate your speed. Most vehicles will travel a certain distance in the most economical way at approximately 90 km/hour. Above 100 km/hour, fuel consumption will quickly increase.
  • Limit if safe the use of the air-conditioning, rear window demister, blowers and music systems that make heavy use of energy.
  • Remove your roof box, roof rack or bicycle rack from the vehicle when you do not need it due to the air resistance it produces. Driving with open windows will also lead to a higher fuel consumption.
  • Everything you take with you in your vehicle will increase fuel consumption. Every 10 kg of additional weight results in 0.1 litres more per 100 kilometres.
  • Use a bicycle more often for those short journeys.
